Converting a video file for the Dingoo is a good idea because reducing the resolution to match that of the Dingoo specification allows your video files to take up less of that valuable memory. It only takes a few minutes to set up the conversion and you can just sit back and let the program do the rest, EASY!

Well yes, but you'll need to know what program to use and of course the settings, not just the setting to choose but the setting that work best on the Dingoo.

You can buy a Dingoo now for under £55 delivered from DealExtreme. Turnaround is normally under 2 weeks and it's the cheapest you'll find. Comes in white and black (which is slightly cheaper)

Installing Dingux

Installing Dingux is actually pretty straight foward. I found I had to visit various sites to find all the information to help me with the installation and understanding what had to be done, so I'll try to complie it all here.

I personally did this with Vista SP2 x32 with no hickups, x64 either doesn't work or is very troublesome. Use the following guide to help you through the process.

At Flash Firmware step 4-5 one thing I noticved was missing was you get two options, choose dual boot.

Pre-purchase

I use a Dolby Digital sound system (check my setup page) so I was scepticle about reverting to a stereo headset. I really needed them for late night gaming to keep the rest of the family happy from gunshots and bassy explosions. They were highly praised so I decided to take the chance and go for them.

I tried my Thomsons wireless headphones first and I wasn't too impressed. They had been lying unused, and only previously used for music. Playing CoD4 I couldn't tell which way enemies were coming from and that put me at a real disadvantage. Of course there was no voice chat either.

My Verdict

These are much better than I expected. Great positioning - so you can tell what way enemies are coming from. Great sound quality, and rather loud at high volume. No problem with hearing team mates in conjuction with game sound, they are also controlled independantly.

A couple of bad points to note:

Comfort, could be better
Doesn't fit directly into the chatpad

These headphones are an essential purchase if you don't already have a pair. They improve your games in so many ways my sound system is now jealous. I can't comment on the other models (displayed below) but for £40 these are a great place to start despite their minor flaws. If the other models are better than these which they should be then I envy anyone with a pair of X4s.

Upgrading your PS3's HDD

This isn't the hardest job in the world, but upgrading a PS3 HDD can be a tricky job for a computing novice and it's pretty easy to make mistakes.

Q. Why would I want to upgrade my PS3's HDD?

A. The obvious answer is to give yourself more Hard Disk space. Whether you need it or not, The PS3 is a hell of a lot more useful as a media player than the 360. It only takes seconds to transfer say a music album backup to your PS3 system for an external HDD, making listening to your music more convenient and still giving you loads of room for downloadable content and best of all piece of mind.

Q. What kind of HDD should I get.

A. 2.5" Sata HDD. Don't worry about the speed or manufacturer, as long as you buy from a trusted seller you should be find. I personally went for the 320Gb Western Digital from Play.com for £49.99.

To cut a long story short, play this now and let him do the talking.

*Please remember to sync your trophies before you do anything else*

As far as problems go I encountered a couple of niggles. I did this with an 80GB HDD. The guy in the video I think does it with a 40Gb model. The "trap door cover" on my 80Gb model just didn't want to go back on. It may require some force, just make sure it is in the right position if you have the same problem and put your back into it.

The second problem, or suprise as it was, related to the usable HDD space. Like anyone with some experience using HDDs will know the usable disk space is less than the total disk space. You'd expect about 290-300Gb usable from a 320Gb HDD. What you get, or what I got anyway was around 260Gb. I think the reason for this is the PS3 basically eats this extra space. For what reason I don't know, but it's only a small portion of a bargain upgrade.

Don't forget you can always make use of that old Hard Drive you just swapped. A '2.5" hdd case' (Ebay it) will allow you to use that old HDD as an external. I got a nice shiny black case from a Hong Kong seller with a usb cable and a sleeve for the case for £5.

Formating an external HDD to Fat32

There are a few guides on the internet explaining how to do this but the question often pops up in forums so I thought one more guide wouldn't hurt.

Q. Why format an external HDD to Fat32?

A. One reason to format your external for Fat32 is for playing media on a PS3 or Xbox 360. If like myself you keep your movie files on an external drive then it's much more convenient having them playable rather than streaming them on your local network.

Q. Why is formatting to Fat32 such a problem?

A. This was my first question too. After buying a new 250Gb portable HDD I connected it to my Windows XP PC to find out there was no format option other than NTFS. Upon further inspection and with the help of some fellow forumers I found out that Windows will not format a drive over 32Gb to anything other than NTFS. Kinda sucky!

Solution :)

Simple really. Two things you need, this guide along with the fat32format exe file (found on the guide).

That's it, the guide will... well, guide you through the process.

Once you get down to the cluster part there is no need to go any further, that's you done.

After a few months using a controll pad the grip starts to wear off. Not greart when you consider what it has to start with. Stick these on your controller and there will be no more thumbs slipping in the middle of an intense team deathmatch. The replacement amalogue stick cover features 8 larger raised pimples as apposed to the 4 tiny 'dots' that come as standard. This provides superior grip and ensures you are at the top of your game.

My Verdict
I picked these because they were a great price, at only £1.95 for the pair + discount on postage for additional sets. I had to give them a go. My control pad was only a few months old and the grip was almost non existant. After using these I don't know how, or why I played without them.

They look and feel very natural on the controller and perform great. It adds a little size to the sticks and makes them feel more rhobust. With twice as many pimples as standard, grip is greatly improved. Even if your controll pad is brand new, these make the sticks much, much better. It takes a little getting used to at first, only because you are so used to not having them, but these are one of those products you use and can't imagine going without.

Grab yourself a couple now and enjoy your brand new and improved sticks. These are a must buy for any Xbox 360 player and even more so for shooter enthusiasts like myself. Vast improvement at a bargain price, highly recommended.

Welcome to my art page. Here is where I showcase some of my creations, I hope you enjoy looking at them and they inspire you to do some of your own. If you like them please comment as it encourages me to produce more and better drawings.

My latest project

It's been a good while since I last put pencil to paper. This I started a couple of years (yes years) ago. I personally think it is my best, even unfinished. I luuurve how Samus has turned out.

My main reason for not yet completing this project is partly because I don't have a spare/set table for drawing purposes, so it's not ideal, and partly because I spend most of my spare time these days playing video games. I will finish it though, Infact I've just realised I can use our dining table, so watch this space.

Tomb Raider

This is a Lara Croft drawing I did during Summer 08 when I had some time to kill. The picture itself is an image from GamesMaster previewing a new Tomb Raider game (can't remember which one).

Overall I was pretty pleased with how it turned out. The overall shape was fairly straight foward. The only problem I run into were the grenades, which were quite hard to set correctly on Lara's belt, but most of all the guns. The Image was very dark so the darker sections on the drawing were hard to make out like the right hand on the left. I eventually managed to get the shape of the guns fairly accurate I think, and added the detail. Although the left gun (right hand, left side) is a little larger I wasn't bothered about it too much, just glad it turned out decent enough before the paper worn away due to the amount of times I used the eraser.

Please note this isn't a scanned image, it's from my camera, but it's pretty good.

Nintendo Legends

Sorry about the small size and pictire quality of this one - it looks a bit blotchy. It's the only copy I have as I've lost the original scans. I'll hopefully get the scanner set up again at a later date.

This was pretty much my first real project. When I say project it wasn't intented for that purpose. Once I started and watche dthe image progress it was a good feeling, before I knew it this drawing was the start of more to come.
I started with Sonic, then added the other characters around him to fill up the space. Once I had the basic outlines set up I went over them with a biro, not a great technique though. I had trouble figuring out what to do with the background. So I went for a lesser used colour and added faint purple lightning/cracked effect lines which are hard to see in this copy. I was very pleased with the result, and the feedback I got from friends was very encouraging.

Gamecube Classics

My second, and first actual planned project. I decided this time not to just throw images on paper but instead to organize them, into quadrants. I then decided it would be appropriate, and pretty cool, to stick a top down view of the Gamecube in the center. That was my first step.

Everything else was done as usual. I had some problems with the faces of the Resi Zero characters. Billy's face looks a little twisted in this pic but the bigger original looks fine. I was very happy with how Rebecca turned out.

The main problem was trying to add the 'Nintendo Gamecube' text. After trying numerous times the paper started to wear away. I then decided to scan the image and insert the text digitally. This worked great, and although it's not on the origial it's on any scans, slight annoyance but a good solution I thought, more professional looking too.

This is just a few still drawings I done after being asked when I was applying to study art at college. I got my place on the course but I didn't attend.

I find still drawings are just like copying an image off paper. You're basically drawing what you see. No real differences, so I didn't really understand why these show more talent than my other drawings.
